Hi! This is the homepage of Shiying (Catherine) Zhang. I’m currently a Master student at Princeton University major in Financial Mathematics. I graduated from Tsinghua University with double bachelors degree in Engineering and Economics (Double majors: Computer Science and Technology + Economics and Finance), and during my junior year, I exchanged at University of Oxford, fully sponsored by the prestigious Yinghua Scholarship.
As a dual-degree student, I have a deep passion for both majors. My engineering background trains me to build things with clarity and structure, while economics and finance teach me to ask why—revealing the incentives, markets, and human impulses behind each problem. Together, they give me both the tools to create and the intuition to understand.
I’m also energetic and passionate about embracing diverse life experiences. I have lived in Shenzhen (my birthplace), Shanghai (my hometown), Beijing (my undergraduate), Oxford (my exchange year), Hong Kong (my internships) and Princeton (my graduate), and have travelled in many places. My internship experiences span from fundamental equity research to quantitative research and trading.
I enjoy debating (was awarded best debater in my freshman year), poker (representing Oxford in a UK poker competition), writing (I’m a Wechat official, The Castle, account owner and have published more than 100 original articles), travelling (have visited 28 countries / 120+ cities), cricket, squash, skiing, and playing the piano (ABRSM Grade 8).
