Hi! This is the homepage of Shiying (Catherine) Zhang. I’m currently a master’s student at Princeton University studying Financial Mathematics. I graduated from Tsinghua University with bachelor’s degrees in Engineering and Economics (Double majors: Computer Science and Technology + Economics and Finance), and during my junior year, I spent an exchange year at the University of Oxford, fully funded by the prestigious Yinghua Scholarship.
As a dual-degree student, I have a deep passion for both majors. My engineering background trains me to build things with clarity and structure, while economics and finance teach me to ask why—revealing the incentives, markets, and human impulses behind each problem. Together, they give me both the tools to create and the intuition to understand.
I’m also energetic and passionate about embracing diverse life experiences. I have lived in Shenzhen (my birthplace), Shanghai (my hometown), Beijing (my undergraduate studies), Oxford (my exchange year), Hong Kong (my internships) and Princeton (my graduate studies), and have travelled to many places. My internship experiences span fundamental equity research, quantitative research and trading.
I enjoy debating (I was named best debater in my freshman year), poker (I represented Oxford in a UK poker competition), writing (I run the WeChat Official Account The Castle and have published more than 100 original articles), travelling (I have visited 34 countries / 130+ cities), cricket, squash, skiing, and playing the piano (ABRSM Grade 8).

May-Jun 2026, South KoreaI travelled to South Korea, visiting Seoul and Busan. I tried a wide variety of Korean food and spent time wandering through Seoul's neighbourhoods, getting a feel for the city's local culture and everyday life.
